Stayed here for work for 2 weeks and absolutely satisfied! The staff were friendly, location was a walk away from work and easy access to downtown (albeit via taxi) with lots of local amenities like shops and chemists. Comfortable bed, fridge in the room and lovely shower. My only 2 points would be maintenance and general cleanliness. The flusher on my toilet was hanging loose from the wall, still usable just something I noticed, and the room carpet was quite stained as well. Would still absolutely recommend to anyone!
Title: Comfortable Stay with Helpful Staff, But Room for small Improvements We recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Topkapi in Istanbul. Overall, it was a comfortable experience. The hotel is modern and well-maintained, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. One staff member Mohamed, in particular, stood out for going above and beyond to explain the city’s attractions and help us plan our visit — his effort was truly appreciated. Unfortunately, not all staff were as proactive in offering assistance or information. The room itself was decent — clean and functional — but the air conditioning was quite unstable. It fluctuated a lot and took time to adjust, which made our nights less comfortable than expected. One thing to note is the hotel’s location. It was a bit misleading. While it’s described as centrally located, we found it took about 20 minutes just to walk to the nearest tram station, and another 20–30 minutes on public transport to reach the main attractions downtown. This made commuting a bit more time-consuming than we anticipated. All in all, with some improvements in room maintenance and clearer communication about location, this hotel has the potential to offer a much better guest experience. We’d consider staying again if these points were addressed.
Beautiful Hotel, But Terrible Service – Very Disappointing Experience The hotel itself is very beautiful, no doubt about it. We were given the presidential suite, which was truly stunning—spacious, well-decorated, and extremely comfortable. However, the service was absolutely awful and really ruined what could have been a great stay. From the beginning, the staff was unprofessional. Very few of them spoke proper English, and what’s worse, they didn’t even try to communicate or show any willingness to help. Most of them were rude and seemed completely uninterested in providing good service. We tried to order breakfast to the room and it was a disaster. The person who answered barely understood us, and they kept hanging up the phone. When we finally thought the order had been placed, nothing ever arrived. We called again almost an hour later—by then we had to leave for the airport—and they told us no order had ever been placed. Completely disorganized and careless. When we were getting ready to leave, we asked for help bringing our luggage down and they took forever to come. Then we requested the car to go to the airport, but a bus from another agency was blocking the driveway. We asked them to move and they simply didn’t care. We explained we were late for our flight, and the hotel staff did absolutely nothing. They stood there, indifferent, not even trying to help—even when we begged. To make matters worse, their card machine (POS terminal) wasn’t working, which caused more unnecessary delays and stress while trying to check out. Again, no apology or proper assistance was offered. The only person who deserves any praise is the guy who helped with the luggage at the beginning. He was polite, helpful, and the only one who showed any professionalism. Everyone else really failed in basic customer service and communication. We will not be coming back. A nice hotel is not enough when the service is this poor.
