My boyfriend and I were staying here for a week on a work visit, and I didn’t have any issues with my stay. There’s a big parking lot, they’re actively doing renovations to make things better, and I got a cookie when I walked in! The stairwell was accessible, and even though there were elevator issues (elevators everywhere break down pretty often so I’m not shocked by it) I didn’t mind taking the stairs. The floors aren’t hard to navigate and since there are two elevators, when one stopped working we just hopped on the other one. I loved the small gym area. It was quiet and just enough for my workout routine. There are tvs and it’s kept air conditioned for when you break a sweat. Towel stand was perfect and I wiped down my surfaces with the disinfectant wipes provided. The room was spacious enough for two people and so was the bed. The bathroom was the perfect size and the shower looked newly installed. The tv is a nice size at the end of the bed and you get blackout curtains for privacy. Desk and the comfy corner chair are a plus for daytime tasks. Bed was massive but the pillows made it hard to fall asleep— that’s just a personal issue. My boyfriend had no problems at all. Maybe bring your own pillow if you absolutely wanted to. Plenty of space for belongings and in the closet, bedside tables had charging outlets for our chargers, mini fridge kept our waters cold, ac kept us cool at night, and housekeeping does a great job. Not sure if we had neighbors, and if we did, I couldn’t hear them. Need food recs? Go to Booyah! downstairs for a small breakfast selection and great coffee in the morning, along with their lunch/dinner selection. Didn’t have to go far for a good time and good food! Thank you for a lovely week! I would definitely stay here for a trip to Mahwah again.
I’ve never been so disappointed with Double Tree, it is not only outdated, overpriced, the manager clearly doesn’t care about the rights for people staying at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel to find out there is an event going on at their event room. We thought maybe the music would stop around 10pm, however, the excessive, prolonged loud music that trembles the floor continued after 12am midnight. We called the front desk earlier and got an answer saying the party would end at 11:20pm. We later on tried to call the front desk but no one answers. The hotel manager clearly has no regard for their guests staying overnight as long as someone else pays them more money.
Terrible service, worst experience ever. I booked the junior suite room via Chase Travel. I checked on the website and made sure it included a king bed and a sofa bed, since we are taking 2 young kids. What we got was a king room, not a suite at all. I talked to the front desk staff, who was a old lady, she at first tried to convince me that what I got was a suite, like I didn’t even know what suite was, and then she was trying to convince me that I booked a king room, because what on the reservation has no “sofabed” mentioned, let alone there was clearly “suite” displayed. She offered me “cancel” the reservation, as if we have some where to go at 9pm. I had chase to call them, after long conversation they finally admitted that they sold out, so they gave me a most similar room, which was a king room. I don’t know how I can book a sold out room a month ahead. Clearly they gave the room to other guest booked later, because there will be a wedding the next day. And they offered me refund of the difference of the room types, but based on the cheapest rate, not the memorial price we booked. Terrible terrible service, tried to lie to people like they were fools, and racist maybe since we are Asian and being treated as we never lived in a hotel before.
