DoubleTree by Hilton Mazatlan SIN

The building needs a lot of work. It looks outdated and in dire need of maintenance. When we first arrived, the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. We were taken to our room and it was pretty decent. Yet, came the night, and the noises from outside the windows, outside the door and next door were very loud, as if the walls were paper thin. On the second day, we left the room around 10am and didn't come back until 4pm. The room was untouched, nobody had cleaned it. We were hardly able to sleep because you could hear every conversation around the room. Woke up the third day to no hot water. We didn't have hot water all day.

The location is the best thing I can say about this hotel. Great views if you’re on the ocean facing side. Although I should mention that the site next to the hotel is vacant and appears to be a hangout for homeless people and a garage dump. Access to everything is an easy 26 peso bus ride away. Or you can simply walk along the Malecon, which is about a 30 minute walk from hotel. These are my complaints Although the hotel is newly renovated we found multiple issues of poor workmanship. Rust was apparent on several fixtures in the bathroom. The patio door had some makeshift latch used to keep the door closed. There were broken tiles throughout the hotel but most notably in the pool area. The wall in our room had been damaged and shoddily repaired. The sofas in the seating area on the 3rd floor were filthy. We asked for ice several times and it came in dirty ice buckets. Some came with broken handles or rusty screws or no screws at all. Although we tipped housekeeping everyday, bathroom towels etc were replaced inconsistently, sometimes we didn’t even receive washcloths. The tile floors in our room were definitely not vacuumed properly, as we had to rub the sand off of our feet before getting into bed. The carpet in the hallway leading to our room wasn’t vacuumed properly during our 2 week stay. It was easy to see that it hadn’t been cleaned because of the various pieces of debris on the carpet. The hotel claims that the dining room where the breakfast buffet is served is open all day “It’s Not”. The advertised pool side bar was never open! We were informed that there was a happy hour by the pool side waiter so we ordered cocktails. After drinking them we’re told “not the drinks you ordered”. Something we should have been told when we ordered the drinks. Although we stayed for two weeks the water bottles in the room were only replaced once. I’ve included photos were possible. Just not what I would’ve expected from a 4 star hotel.

Location is not bad. Management.is abysmal. No pool towels. Old, broken plastic junky chairs at pool. Broken umbrellas. This is not run or managed by Hilton! — local management. Will never come close to this place again.
