Me and my family had a great time there! The room was nice and the bed was comfortable! The staff was amazing! I wanted to recognize a staff member there. I would like to recognize Angela! She was great! She always answered my question with kindness and attention. She stood out among everyone!
Don't use the restaurant. They'll charge you $30 for breakfast on your final bill, along with other strange charges. I ended up paying $60 for breakfast. I just hope they return my deposit! The front desk service leaves a lot to be desired. Cheap ended up being more expensive.
My experience at this hotel was disappointing for several reasons. The Good: The hotel and room itself was clean. Location is decent. Bed was comfortable. The Disappointments: Judging the room I was given, the accommodations were closer to a 3-star property. The bed, furniture, fixtures, and bathroom all felt outdated. This would have been fine had the overall experience been better. The check-in experience was frustrating. My flight arrived early, and exhausted from travel, I inquired about an early check-in around 11:30 a.m. (regular check-in is at 3 p.m.). I was open to paying an additional fee, but the front desk staff informed me that no rooms were available. I was told to return in an hour and was promised a call when a room became available. However, no call had been made. When I returned, I was given the excuse that rooms were still being cleaned due to a high volume of check-outs (apparently 90+ that morning - which i know was a lie). I returned again an hour later, only to hear a similar response. Finally, at 3 p.m., I was assigned a room...one of the furthest in the hotel, despite being told that 90+ rooms had been vacated earlier that day. While I understand that 3 p.m. is the standard check-in time, I would have appreciated upfront honesty rather than being jerked around with false promises, multiple return trips, and excuses. What made it worse was seeing other guests being checked in early while I was repeatedly turned away. As a frequent traveler, I recognize good-faith customer service... that was non-existent here. The entire experience felt PURPOSELY dismissive and inconsiderate. It shows how only one employee can completely ruin a guest's experience. I will never consider staying at another DoubleTree hotel. I'm also advising friends and colleagues to stay away as well. In terms of this location, there are far better hotels in Miami for the price.
