DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia West

I chose this hotel due to the spacious parking lot as we were traveling with a vehicle towing a trailer, and for the extremely convenient location. Front dest staff were welcoming and efficient. I'm sure this hotel was once quite stylish some decades ago, but at this point it is due for the rooms to be renovated. The room (a suite) was very spacious. It smelled like disinfectant and air freshener. The carpet and curtains had stains. There were stains on the furniture. Some of the surfaces (door handles in particular) felt a little sticky. The shower handle was broken and it was tricky to get it to work and adjust the temperature. Similarly one of the sink handles was either broken or not installed correctly. Both tub and sink drains drained poorly. The bedding appeared clean, but one of the mattress covers had a huge, obvious tear. The beds were a little hard and the pillows a bit lumpy. Electrical outlets were limited, it was a bit tricky to get our devices charged overnight. The room was VERY quiet. The staff in the restaurant for breakfast were welcoming, efficient and gracious.

Our room was outdated - no USB ports and room was worn. The air vents smelled moldy and front desk said maintenance engineering would replace air filters but either they did not replace the air filters or there is a mold problem. Bathroom soap smells awful. The staff in the restaurant for breakfast were great and friendly.

I travel to the area a couple of times a year, and always stay here. This trip the hotel was not good. Found some sort of grease and dirty readily visible sticky crud all over one side of drape panels. Had to kill live roach on the wall. The bathroom sink has a broken faucet, and no cookies (I wouldn't eat them anyway, after tonight. It is too late to check out and find another hotel tonight, as we just drove in from Atlanta for a couple of nights. Hope to be out and requesting a full refund in the morning.
