DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie Convention Center

This double tree is decorated very modernly and provides spectacular views of the bridges over the Hudson, especially from the higher levels. Rainfall shower heads were a nice touch in the updated bathrooms, and the furniture also rang of high quality. We thought staying in a room overlooking the convention center would be unsightly, but you honestly can’t see the room when inside the room or sitting. Only beautiful sights of the surrounding hills and bridges. Henry at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we need and was a joy to talk with. Free and abundant parking for hotel guests too, we would not hesitate to stay again.

I was very disappointed in this place for a variety of reasons. First upon arriving, the 15 min parking area which can hold max two cars, was full (it was 5:45- not prime check in time) so I’d didnt know what to do. Parked in the van only parking? And then went inside and proceeded to wait 10-15 minutes while one employee appeared to just be having a conversation with one guy who’d been there for a while, uncaring that the line was so long. I noticed someone blocked coming in behind me so I finally interrupted the staffs casual conversation with this guest that seemed to be going nowhere and asked what to do. I was told to pull into garage and don’t worry about ticket. Woyld have been really nice to know that via email prior to my arrival. Also woyld actually be nice for employees to seem to care that there was a long line and many people were waiting. After parking my car, spent another 10 mins in line waiting to check in (keep in mind that guy from before was still with an employee just talking instead of doing his job). Room itself was clean but tons of outside traffic noise, even though I was on the 10th floor! It didn’t seem like a Main Street and it was set back a bit from street but you could clearly hear cars zooming past, ambulances etc. which kept me from getting a good nights sleep even with headphones on. I would expected more soundproofing of windows for the price I spent. Overall, bad customer service upon check in and louder than expected and nothing special. I would have expected more given how much more expensive it was than other hotels nearby.

Stayed there recently and came to find out that they were experiencing no hot water. Was told that it was being fixed but that morning water was cold and couldn't take shower. Advised the desk and they said they would compensate me for the stay. After checking out found out that FULL price was charged. Contacted Hilton and they said the local management team would contact me - guess they lied about water being fixed - price adjustment and a follow up by the local team. Guess being a Hilton honors member was a lie too - never again!
