I first reserved a king room on the fourth floor for my wife and I on our 15th anniversary trip to explore the Salem area. The room we booked had no ac and got so hot we needed another room. The staff had a room next to the elevator that they let me check it was cool and we took it. They bent over backward to make it up to us with complimentary breakfast.
Caution on checking in later in the evening, they lock the front door and need the manager to unlock it from their desk, but they aren't always there. I waited about 15 minutes and tried calling the hotel number to no answer. I was about to book elsewhere but a delivery guy showed up and the manager was there to open the door. Other than that, the service was helpful. The room was spacious and clean, I did have to ask for towels the last day because they weren't replaced with new ones. I'd avoid this location until construction is complete due to the noise throughout the day. The intersection nearby also gets a bit loud at night.
The staff was nice and the lobby looked renovated. However, my room was beyond DISGUSTING. As soon as I walked in I could see debris on the floor in the entry way, smudges on the surfaces, dried piss around the top of the toilet seat, and the longer I looked at the carpet and floor the more ANTS 🐜 I saw. I lost count they were actually coming up from the carpet. Im in town for 10 nights for work on the government rate and nowhere else in town was willing to give me the standard rate per night. I panicked on the verge of tears for about thirty minutes in that room calling every hotel in town with no luck. All while standing because the room was so gross I couldn’t sit. I’ve resorted to traveling to and from Lebanon each day just for a clean and safe place to sleep at night. Really such a shame a Hilton location would disappoint this much. The only good thing I have to say about the experience was the front desk women and manager on duty were understanding, apologetic, and I in no way think this is reflective of them.
