I stay in more than my share of hotels domestically and internationally as I am an airline employee but this particular hotel level of service was unmatched. When I was picked up from the airport, the van driver was so impressive. He actually sold me on my stay and provided great recommendations for attractions in the area. My check in was so smooth. You could not help but to feel welcomed when you saw the smiling faces of the front desk staff. Despite having a huge convention going on at the same time, they acknowledged me and took care of me with purpose and dignity. I was touched by the actions of the employees, I asked to speak with the GM. I wanted to let him know how impressive the staff were and to give praise and credit because a lot of times we find ourselves complaining. I had dinner in the restaurant and the caucasian server went above and beyond with her service. We talked about the food, the chef, California Dreaming bread baskets. etc. She was so personable and friendly, I will have dinner there again tonight. This Double Tree is a 5 in my opinion. From the GM to the housekeeping staff are all amazing. It’s heartwarming to see a dedicated staff that is attentive to the guests in this way. Whenever I am back in Charlotte, it’s no guessing were my first choice of lodging will be. You guys exceeded my greatest expectations and for this I say thank you and I feel that everyone should know about this gem nestled in West Park Drive. Hats off to you guys!
What a delightfully eccentric hotel this is—a relic from another time, yet it still manages to exude that executive charm it once had. Inside, there's a lovely restaurant and bar that beckon for a good evening drink. Out back, a fountain gurgles with life, offering a serene escape from the bustle. Sure, the pool is under construction, but it still holds a certain allure, like a promise waiting to be fulfilled. They graciously upgraded me to room 418, a space so cavernous you could practically roller skate in it. Complete with a full-sized conference table, it felt more like a boardroom than a bedroom. The staff was genuinely warm and welcoming, a refreshing touch in this often impersonal world of hospitality. As for breakfast, at $22, I hesitated; sometimes, you just have to draw the line.
I had a cancelled flight, so this was one of the closer hotels. I would not recommend anyone stay here until they invest in the property. Driving up to the hotel, I honestly thought it was a shelter, there were a few folks just outside hanging on the grass at 1 am. Then the entrance to the hotel smelled horribly. The room itself was pretty bad. The cleanliness was not up to par. There were obvious maintenance issues that should have been easy fixes. Skip this place. The day staff were very helpful.
