DoubleTree by Hilton Trujillo

My son and I stayed here in July 2025. It’s a beautiful hotel. The rooms are spotless and very modern. For what it’s worth I stay at a lot of Hilton properties (I’m Diamond for life) and this is the nicest DoubleTree I’ve ever stayed at.

Great staff. Not perfect as they made some mistakes but they’re hard working and well meaning.

Not a 5-star experience. First the good, they were very accommodating and accepted having my two kids in the room (in theory the maximum occupation is 3 per room), the room was very decent and the cleaning service was very efficient, and the view was nice, although a bit deceiving because what they call ocean view means the ocean but like a mile away. Now the bad, the breakfast option was very weak and what was unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber is the fact that there were flies all over the food, the coffee is not self service and they took forever to fill out our cups. The restaurant, although rated as one of the best in town, was a bit disappointing. The lomo saltado was not authentic, the meat was cut too big and it was on the dry side. We also had a bad experience when some family came to visit and we asked for a table for 8 and initially they said they could only accommodate us in the terrace but since there were some people smoking we were getting ready to leave, but only then they decided to prepare a table for 8 in their dining area. Other issues we found was little or no AC in the hallways, the toilet paper was so cheap and filmsy, and the windows need some serious washing. Overall, not terrible but not great either.
