I'm surprised this hotel is rated a 3.9. We had nothing but a positive experience and the staff were so kind and helpful. We were spending two nights with our grandkids who loved the pool, fighting over who got to push the button on the elevator, and the revolving door! We appreciated the connected parking garage where we felt safe leaving our vehicle. We were thinking about booking elsewhere, but I'm so glad we stayed at the downtown Double Tree. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
No order to this, it's some good some bad. 1. Apparently you shouldn't book on a 3rd party site (Expedia etc) as they oversell rooms. We booked a single king and got here to two queen beds. Thankfully the front desk felt bad and the second night we were switched. 2. There are no microwaves in the rooms, fridge yes. So had to go to the lobby laundry room to reheat leftovers. Been to much "fancier " places that had a microwave. 3. Pool was great 4. No free breakfast, despite other reviews saying otherwise. That's some Hilton rewards thing. And quite frankly not worth it. 5. Beds are comfortable (both felt medium firm) 6. I don't like room trash cans with no liners. It's a two bin thing for like recycling. But I doubt people are actually separating stuff. You can keep that there just needs to be a bathroom trash with a bag. For diapers, menstruation products and baby wipes. I don't want your staff to have to touch that in the little recycling bins. 7. The first night the lobby smelled like dirty mop water. But I think someone realized that. Some halls do smell like dog, this is a pet friendly hotel (it says on website) so if you don't like it or are allergic keep this in mind. 8. Housekeeping starts rounds at 9 a.m. and ignores the signs (one morning we forgot the sign and second morning did have it on door). 9. Awkward bathrooms, the shower and tub are in a closet next to a small area with the sink and mirror. Next to the actual closet. Our room is "handicapped accessible " but you can't get a wheelchair next the the toilet or shower.
We visited this location during Father's Day weekend to see the Andrea Bocelli concert, Tulsa was very busy & the hotel was extremely short staffed. Only 1 employee at the front desk with a line of 15 people waiting. Everyone had a 4pm check in and she said there were no rooms available, everyone would be waiting until at least 5pm. When we got our keys she did not direct us to the elevators, explain how to find our rooms, or provide any additional info for our reservation. Very obvious she was in a bad mood. Fast forward to breakfast the next day, there was no hostess available to seat us. Nearly every table was dirty with dishes. We helped ourselves to the buffet & waited nearly 10min for a server to bring drinks- they did a bare minimum job, did not introduce themselves or ask how the food was, at the end he left us the bill & was gone for 15 minutes. very poor customer service. I say this as someone who has been in customer service for 14 years. I was not impressed, will not recommend this location & will not come back. Which is unfortunate because it looks like a cool space & is in a great location in downtown.
