A hotel in transition might be my best description. Rooms seem to be getting upgraded along with pool, dinning areas, etc. Staff was friendly, 2 of 3 working elevators serviced the limited guests, but would struggle if hotel was more full. Website said the hotel was going through renovations, but didn't elaborate. I may not have stayed given the extent of what was closed or not ready. A/C unit in my newly renovated room was loud and didn't cool well so the room was a little too warm and had a slightly damp feel. One bedside light was missing a shade and the bathroom was barely big enough to turn around in, but overall it worked for the night. The fitness center was above average and parking garage was convenient, but has a very low clearance height. The construction across the street and loud downtown traffic was noticeable even with the loud A/C unit and blinds closed. Breakfast buffet was average for $18. No ice machines were working during this stay on any floor, but the restaurant would fill a bag for you if needed. The DoubleTree cookie was offered, but it was not warm. Pantry in the lobby was under stocked, but it could have been a long weekend and replenishment was coming. Overall, an average stay for an aging property that they are trying to revitalize.
Room was dated. Shower was cold even after letting it run and it sounded like a tea kettle about to blow. Rating room a 2 cause for the price it wasn’t what I’d expect. No toilet paper holder. Phone and side table was dusty. Wouldn’t be happy if this was my room for a week. For one night it was fine. View was good of the river but overall not impressed for the price. Location was nice for downtown.
Overall not terrible place to stay, but letting people host a birthday party at the pool and essentially keeping others from using the pool isn't ideal. Worst part was the parking garage. Construction and stuff going on and water dripping on cars and virtually staining the paint. Been scrubbing for an hr and still can't get all the water and concrete off the car.
