Dover Marina Hotel & Spa Tapestry Collection by Hilton

We enjoyed our stay, it has a pub and a restaurant. The rooms were nice, the bathrooms have been remodeled. It is close to the cruise port. We ordered a taxi, but it was a holiday. They got stuck at the ferry and didn't make it to the hotel. We ended up walking to the cruise port. It wasn't that bad.

So the hotel itself is lovely and the bar staff are great along with the people at the spa and the reception , however we paid for a package that included a three course meal , upon entering the restaurant in the hotel for our already paid meal we were treated quite poorly. We arrived at 8:20pm and by 9:20pm we still had no drinks ( which we had ordered) we had still not had our food order taken and the woman who was clearly in charge seemed to not care at all that she had left us sitting for an hour with no service or care. In the end we had to leave and find an alternative place to eat despite paying a hefty charge on our package to have that three course meal included. ( also if you know Dover area there is not much to eat which left us looking around for somewhere ) We also tried to contact room service on multiple occasions however our phone calls were ignored and we know this as other rooms had clearly been receiving room service as the room service plates had been left outside their door once finished. I personally wouldn’t return stay here as the service on a whole was quite poor apart from the three areas I mentioned above.

Start with the good. Our view was amazing from our room. The room was clean and comfortable. Now the bad stuff: elevators are the size of small closets and slow as ever. When we checked in around 15:00 we tried to book a taxi through the hotel as we were told we could do. We were told at check in we could not book a taxi until later. So we walked into town for an early dinner which was lovely. We arrived back at the hotel about 18:00. Went straight to the counter to book the taxi and was told they could not book taxi service and we HAD to book on our own. So we did. This morning we went to take our showers and the shower pan immediately began to fill and flooded the bathroom. This appears to be a regular occurrence for this room as the bottom of the door looked water damaged along with the carpet. So it appears to be an unresolved issue. Now, with regards to the taxi situation. We were told twice we could not book through the hotel and we HAD to book on our own even so far as to be presented with a sign to take a picture of so we could call to book. So we did, assuming their policy changed and everyone would book this way. Now this morning we find out that was not true. We could have booked the taxi through the hotel even as late as this morning and those who booked through the hotel have priority. I have NEVER been so angry with the way a hotel is managed ever. So insist on booking taxis with the hotel if you choose to stay.
