Du Lac

This was an absolutely wonderful stay! I would give Hotel Du Lac Interlaken a full five stars. I stayed here for six nights from May 13th to May 18th. Although the room was a bit old, it was by no means dirty or messy, and the housekeeping staff were very prompt in their cleaning duties. Our room had a small balcony, and as soon as you stepped out, you could see the snow-capped mountains. Opening the bathroom window revealed a view of the lake. Trust me, after a day of sightseeing, sitting on the balcony, daydreaming, and watching the sunset is an experience you don't want to miss. Similarly, waking up early and watching the sunrise while listening to the birds sing is truly delightful. In terms of service, the room was cleaned very thoroughly and promptly. I also had a very pleasant conversation with the owner. Knowing that I was on my honeymoon, he even offered me and a Canadian guest a glass of whiskey. This was a wonderful memory from my trip! Regarding transportation, the hotel is very conveniently located, just a three-minute walk from Interlaken Ost station and less than a one-minute walk to the pier. The largest Coop supermarket is only a five-minute walk away. Let me add that the roast chicken and cold platter from Coop are really delicious! You can even buy roast chicken, a cold platter, and beer, take them back to your room, sit on the balcony, and enjoy the view of the mountains and the sunset. Believe me, it will be one of the best moments of your life. I will definitely choose to stay here again next time, hoping to create even more wonderful memories.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Du Lac in Interlaken. While the hotel feels more like a 3-star property in terms of room size and overall design, it still offers a very good experience. The room was on the smaller side, and the balcony was quite compact, which may not suit everyone looking for spacious accommodations. The breakfast was simple but fresh mostly cheese, some fruit, and bread enough to start the day lightly. But what sets Hotel Du Lac apart is its unbeatable location. The hotel is also conveniently located near public transport, making it a great base for exploring the region. Despite some minor limitations in room space, I really loved my time here and would happily return for the view and peaceful atmosphere alone.

When I first saw the hotel, I felt we had made a great choice due to its convenient location near the train station and a supermarket. However, my expectations quickly diminished upon entering the room. The accommodations were outdated, and the service did not meet my expectations. Safety measures appeared poorly maintained, and the in-room amenities were only provided once and never replenished. The bed linens were not changed, the hair dryer was very small, and the walls were so thin that I could clearly hear noises from outside. The most upsetting part occurred just before check-out. The receptionist informed me that I needed to pay for breakfast as it was not included in the room rate. This surprised me, as it was never mentioned during the booking process or throughout my stay. I explained to them that I had not had breakfast during my time at the hotel. The staff went to the restaurant to check if anyone had seen me there. A while later, the receptionist returned and said, “I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. If you didn’t have breakfast, we won’t charge you.” I found this response unsatisfactory. I would have preferred a proper apology rather than a casual dismissal.
