First off, amazing service. The food is delicious, with the best hand cut chips and pie I’ve had in the UK so far. The steak, salad, and fish are also all very good. The interior is really cozy but also lively.
Ate here and came for drinks for three evenings as we were staying around the corner. Our reservation was well arranged and ready. Service is fine, teetering between friendly and reprimanding, depending on who you deal with. They didn’t serve food to the upper terrace even though a big sign on the wall suggested they do. Pricing felt a bit high for the menu complexity, but we can only compare with other dining experiences we had in the UK during our visit. Lovely atmosphere generally but can get quite busy and loud on the weekend.
The service at this pub was very friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant visit. The food was okay — decent but nothing particularly memorable. In a region where many gastropubs set a high bar, the dishes here felt somewhat average by comparison. Still, it's a solid place overall, and there's nothing major to complain about. Just don’t expect anything exceptional. A good spot for a casual meal if you're nearby.
