Elba Motril Beach & Business Hotel

I absolutely loved this hotel. So much so I actually booked their sister hotel in Almeria next wk. So relaxing. The hotel provided free entertainment during our stay. And all of the act were Really great acts. I was able to join in as an magician's assistant. Hilarious fun. Staff are wonderful and some speak good English which is helpful when our Spanish is getting more dreadful. We've had never heard of Montril and I believe it's because we go to places like Granada and Madrid but I have to say what a welcome they gave us. Food is exceptional. Breakfast and lunch and dinner so reasonable. There is onsite Parking is undercover and it's only 7 euros a day. Well worth it. The swimming pool area is glorious. I highly recommend this hotel. Come and support it you won't be disappointed. Yes I accept the area needs investment but there are plenty of Spanish who come and stay each weekend. There are two large motorhome and camping sites close by. Which I have taken note of because we do have a motorhome. I've wanted to include some photos of the restaurant food as it's 3 /4 courses for 20 euros per people and you can eat as much as you can manage.

The hotel and rooms are clean and comfortable. It’s not a luxurious place but it has a charm. Dining is modest. The area is not developed so it’s quiet. Beach is not to my taste but hotel has a nice small pool with loungers.

This was the weirdest hotel experience I had in the 3 weeks I was in Spain. I can say that the staff at this hotel is AMAZING. The hotel is huge. It looks very glamorous, parts of it are very new (the entrance, the hallways) and parts of it are very aged (the room furniture, the dining room). The bathrooms are both updated and aged at the same time. When I got to my room, I noticed one of the glass drinking glasses in the bathroom was missing. I went to go take a shower a little while later and found the missing glass inside the shower, 1/10 of the way filled with a milky, watery substance. Weird and disgusting. Told the front desk about it, that I left the glass out in the hallway. They were very apologetic and the disgusting glass sat in the hallway until I checked out the next morning. We were there the night of June 4. The city of Motril felt abandoned. It was odd. The only restaurants available were in the hotel and across the street. There was one tiny market/grocery open about 2 blocks to the west. There were lots of restaurants that look like they had closed their doors one night and just never reopened: pots and pans visibly pilled in the kitchen, dirty dishes left on the tables. We ended up skipping dinner all together after the shower glass incident. The breakfast buffet is substantial. Very nice, very clean. The hotel staff was very attentive and kind, but the overall vibe was creepy and aging.
