We selected this hotel from the Marriott Bonvoy app as the hotel was a member of the Hotel Design group. We did not read the reviews, we just accepted the Marriott affiliation to be sufficient. First off, this place is sold as a hotel; however, it would be best described as a high end bed and breakfast. While we loved it, there is no restaurant on site which is a granted aspect of hotels. The room package we picked included breakfast which was delicious. We say b&b because there is no menu. We were asked what we wanted to eat. We had choices, fruits, yogurt, waffles (frozen/toasted types), eggs, chilaquiles, fruit juices, and coffee. We picked fruits and yogurt, and waffles. All of it was excellent! Coffee is strong and delicious. What makes this place special is the staff. Rosalia and Karla at the front desk were very helpful and shared information about the area with us. Mario shared some of his favourite restaurants and offered to bring chairs to the roof top for us if we wanted to sit there for a sunset. The breakfast staff was absolutely fantastic and catered to our needs. Thank you! A note on the bar. While there is a bar, it is not staffed. Front desk clerks work double duty and will accommodate requests for drinks. We only asked for ice cubes in glasses to bring back to our room and that was done with a smile by Karla. Also a bit of history about the property that gives some context on the services offered. This property used to be named Hotel Emiliano. It opened in 2017 or so and was regarded as a high end hotel with a high end restaurant. There are some pictures in a book in the hotel lobby of the before and after of the construction. At opening, the cost for a night stay started at $4200.00 pesos. To put thing in perspective, the current price is less than half of that. The location is two and half blocks from the city centre or centro historico jardin. Zona Piel is a $60.00 pesos Uber ride away. The room was as expected. Two beds, clean sheets, comfortable mattresses, good water pressure in the shower and nice linen. Of note, the hairdryer is not useful for anyone with longer hair than 2 inches.

Stayed two nights here in the middle of the week. The hotel itself is quite nice but it falls short of five stars. Only the front check in and security on staff, no one working in the restaurant or bar. What a shame because it’s really nice but no one working 😩. We left the went out for the first evening and when we came back we couldn’t get I to the property after ringing the bell for 15 minutes. Apparently Oscar who was on duty was MIA according to the security guard. Additionally the lights went out in the bathroom permanently which was annoying. Overall it’s a nice place but just wish they would have considered that guest want want to use other parts of the hotel other than just the sleeping rooms.

Beware. This hotel looks great in the online photos, but you will probably be sorely disappointed upon arrival. There is no restaurant, the bar is closed, they will not serve you a beverage or snack of any kind in the common areat. In fact, the entire lobby/restaurant area is dark and looks as if the hotel is closed for business. The rooftop area has nothing going on. It has 2 swings and some seats, but it is basically closed, as well, aside from the fact that you cannot get any drinks, etc. up there. Also, don't be fooled by the two photos of the one patio with a small pool and the other with twin soaking tubs. Those are only for whoever rents those rooms. The swimming pool photographs nicely, but it is practically unusable; there are no lounge chairs, only a few wooden chairs placed in awkward spaces; it is impossible to have a good pool experience there. All of that being said, the rooms are pretty good - super comfy pillow top mattress with good comforter (though bad-fittimg bottom sheets), great towels, nice shower, new/high quality sink & toilet, a safe, nice dark wood cubicles for storage. Some spots in the room are a little rough around the edges, though no major abrasions. But overall the hotel is Deadsville with NO services I repeat NO services. You can get breakfast ONLY if it's part of your room rate. For the price, which is seemingly reasonable for such a cool-looking, historic, funky property, you will get no services, and even the staff is not helpful and doesn't seem to know what's going on. Great location, though.
