Elite Stadshotellet Karlstad Hotel & Spa

I've done a couple of business visits to Karlstad in recent years and Elite Stadshotellet is my usual haunt to stay at. The main building has seen better days, but the superior rooms in the new part of the hotel are excellent. Situated next to Klarälven, some of these rooms offer a spectacular view of Karlstad's best side. The rooftop bar and Vana spa are appreciated and recommended by many, though I haven't had the chance to explore these myself. It's a safe choice for anyone who wants to treat themselves to a comfortable stay in Karlstad. What I do know is that both the conference and event rooms are grandiose and well-equipped to handle all sorts of events, and the breakfast buffet has a lot of variety - there is something for everyone.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights beginning of February 2025. The hotel room was spacious and clean but a little dated. There was a balcony door that could be opened for fresh air but no window, which we would have preferred. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was outstanding. It was extremely busy on the Saturday and Sunday morning. We didn't use the Spa, because we didn't have time. You do have to pay for the Spa separately. The hotel is in the city centre and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Having the Bishops Arms pub next to the hotel was a bonus!

Never been in a hotel where you can't use the facilities (gym) after checkout, i.e. 11am 😳 And when you kindly express your surprise, only agressivity comes back from reception 😳😳 with only answer "it's 11:55, you are 1h late for checkout, normally I need to charge you" 😳😳😳
