Walter was fantastic at the front desk. The hotel is within walking distance from everything. Room was clean. We stayed on the 16th floor and the view was good too. Will definitely stay here again when coming to Atlanta. If you're a history lover like myself, Google the hotels history. Spooky!
This location is spot on and so convenient and the front desk associates are so business savvy and conservative. The parking attendants are so polite and honest about policies and parking as well as booting and different site seeing places in downtown Atlanta. The food prices are so affordable compared to most hotel snack prices. This location is so low key and spotless. House keeping did splendid on my room. I have no complaints. Will return and I extended my stay 3 days. Kudos for Ellis Hotel #coolest
Overall, good price, great downtown location, but even in this nice area, this is a problem with aggressive panhandlers, homeless and beggars, which is very sad but a definite comfort and safety concern. I like giving a rating to each category: 1) Location to Mercedes Benz stadium and State Farm Arena: 4.5 out of 5 (need to walk a bit, deal with beggars, etc)... 2) Room comfort: 4 out of 5: VERY quiet and dark (NICE!); room very small, but again, quiet and comfortable...Small fridge in room helped... 3) Front desk/employees; 5 out of 5... super friendly, professional, helpful, etc... but unfortunately I must mention about the problem with the begging, the aggressive panhandlers and the lack of safety felt in some of these areas. 4) Proximity a nearby Waffle House (walking distance): 5 out 5 We were advised we could take the train (MARTA) and we did (very inexpensive), but as soon as we got off the platform, we were immediately approached by a "friendly" guy who could have easily been a problem if I didn't give him a few bucks for pointing me up the stairway... we did not take the train (MARTA) back to the airport just for this reason. Upon getting up on the surface/roadway... two more people asked us for money.... never saw one Atlanta police officer (or cruiser) during our multi night stay, even with Beyonce in town for the Cowboy Carter tour. Having said that, we got through it, but I wouldn't be comfortable if my wife and her friends were traveling. 4)Would I stay there again? Most likely yes, based on price, friendliness of employees, location (minus the beggars) and comfort of the room (keep in mind that it's 55.00 per day to park your car there, since it is downtown).
