Elmbank York Tapestry Collection by Hilton

I've stayed here twice now and it's my go to hotel when staying in York. It's very close to the city centre but also not in the super busy part of it which I prefer. I love the decor, it's so antique looking but modern at the same time! I love how dog friendly they are at this hotel, we stayed in the courtyard king room which was so clean and tidy. The courtyard is perfect for dogs as they can go straight out to the yard! I have no criticisms of this hotel, our breakfast was lovely too! It serves a buffet style continental breakfast but table service for cooked breakfasts which is my favourite way to serve it as you get the best of both worlds! The service was amazing, all the staff were super friendly and helpful! I can't wait to stay again!

The room was nice enough, it was clean although a little on the small side. There is a building on the other side of the road to the photo in the advert that you can also be put in, we were in there. There is only around 5 parking spaces, otherwise we were told to pay to park in a school car park. We visited for a murder mystery night so we had a 3 course dinner at the hotel. The soup was ok. I had pan fried sea bass for main, which was rubbery, cold and tasteless and pretty much inedible. It had basic boiled carrots and potatoes with it, with no seasoning. Dessert was coconut chocolate tart which was nice. The sauvignon wine wasn't great. Breakfast was self serve continental which was very basic, the bread basket was empty both days we went for breakfast and the cups were dirty. The hot breakfast had to be ordered and the service was slow, the avocado was not fresh. Around 20-25min walk from city centre.

A really very, very beautiful hotel. Rooms are very comfortable and we loved the in keeping decor!! It even had a 1920s style phone. The staff were nothing short of brilliant. Kind, attentive, just fabulous. But…breakfast took AN HOUR to get to the table which is absolutely crazy. Only one bar staff for a busy evening. The hotel was full! He handled it well but it made service sooo slow.
