Doll, the front desk agent, is hands down one of the nicest people I have ever met. After an 8 hour travel day — with 4 delayed flights — she welcomed and “cared” for me; going above and beyond her “role/title”. She exceeded any expectations I had after a long day of travel, providing genuine concern and accommodation once I arrived. Her welcoming demeanour and overall compassion is second to none — she not only sets, but exceeds, standards for what it means to be welcomed into a Marriott location. In all my years travelling, I have never experienced such an immaculate person upon arrival. Out of every person I interacted with during my trip to Alabama, Doll has and will always stand out. I am forever grateful for such a warm, kind, welcoming arrival. She turned a day of chaos into an enjoyable moment in an instant. Thank you, Doll, for the absolute best experience. My only regret is that you aren’t here throughout my stay. Your welcome to the Elyton meant more than you know 🤍

The hotel is lovely, located in an early 1900s building on an historic corner. The location is ideal. We went to all sorts of places & attractions none more than a 10 minute drive. Restaurants & bars are walkable. The rooms are modern & welll appointed. Although the bathroom layout was a bit odd with a single sink that had minimal space for any toiletries. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay and with every department we encountered. 2 of 3 elevators were out of service during our stay. But the impact seemed minimal. The rooftop bar is nice but there was almost more indoor space than outdoors. We would definitely stay here again. The valet service is separate from the hotel which means we couldn't put parking on our room charge. And it led to some confusion with the valet who seemed to insist we needed to check out of the hotel before finally checking out with them even though it was separate. And our late checkout time with the hotel would have meant an extra charge with the valet.

This hotel was very interesting! It was located in the heart of Birmingham, and appeared to be an old bank, similar to some other hotels I stayed at previously. The service was very great, the staff all were very kind. There were only a few issues to be noted. First of all, they were out of provided body wash, and the glasses in the room were dirty. Additionally, two of the elevators were broken, so we had to utilize the service elevator and the elevator to the bar, both of which had a lot of traffic. Finally, the man next door was very noisy, signifying that the walls were relatively thin. Other than that, I had a great experience at this hotel, and would definitely recommend it! ADDING TO THIS: The elevator that lead to the bar was very cool!
