Enotel Sunset Bay

We stayed for one week in June 2025 and had a delightful experience. The hotel struck a harmonious balance—welcoming and relaxed, yet thoughtfully curated and accommodating. Our stay was both comfortable and memorable, with an easygoing feel, we would definitely return and recommend the hotel to friends, especially for the: location + the beach across the street; atmosphere of the hotel + lovely town; good breakfast+dinner, and varied, well-selected foods; proper room and bathroom size, which made our stay very comfortable; excellent staff. Breakfast opened early (7:30am) which allowed us to leave early for exploration, and the dinner hours were also well-organised. Our sincere thanks to the entire staff for maintaining the facilities so well, and especially to the reception staff for their helpfulness, and to the kitchen and restaurant staff for the varied, high-quality meals and efficient service. We felt very happy of our choice of the hotel, which was a fantastic find, especially having the beach for swimming just across the street and the free parking underground (we found free parking spaces on most days, only 2-3 times we had to park elsewhere, but we found good parking spaces in the area if the parking at the hotel was full). The town itself is charming, banana plantations, waterfalls, beautiful sunsets, lots of sunshine, the pier, easy access + a clean (rocky) beach just across the street. The water temperature was pleasantly suitable for swimming, and we also enjoyed the sound of the crashing waves at night. I read the comments about the festivities and we also had the chance to witness one: but it was much fun for us to see the parade in front of the hotel, to see the people of the area, to listen to the lively music, and get to know Madeira local culture. For us, it was not a disturbing experience, but on the contrary, quite a nice experience, and we enjoyed seeing the parade and listening to the music. The hotel’s location is very convenient for exploring Madeira. We were able to cover our full itinerary with ease, enjoying the island’s diverse landscapes, scenery, and beauty. The food was very good and varied, and I think the options were on the healthier side, compared to other hotels we stayed in, which was greatly appreciated. I am a vegetarian and it was great to have such good options for varied veggies (steamed cauliflower, roasted veggies, fruits, sweet potatoes, quinoa, etc). My husband enjoyed the well-prepared fish, which smelled delicious. Everything was fresh and nicely prepared, thank you to the kitchen staff! Coffee was very good too. Thank you to the hotel and the staff for everything! We had an amazing vacation and an exciting exploration of Madeira! We loved the ambiance of the hotel, the view of the ocean, the facilities, the food, and our hotel neighbours and fellow guests :) Respectfully, Doina

Stayed in this hotel for couple of nights and we've had a really good experience here. Staff were really friendly and rooms were in great condition. The free parking has definitely helped with rented car and location of this hotel is great for ocean view and local restaurants.

Didn't feel very comfortable, neither in the room nor in the restaurant area. The shower is a joke, the rainforest shower part is just for show, it's not even connected to the water supply. A pool next to the reception area is a very questionable design. The sauna was nice, the steam bath smelled horrible though. The breakfast was good and the staff overall very friendly and helpful.
