I had a great stay at Hotel Ermitage in Schönried. Initially, I was given Room 509, which was small and dark—more like a closet. However, the staff quickly moved me to Room 321, which was much better. The hotel offers full board, and the food is exceptional. Breakfast was a highlight with a spread of cheese, smoked salmon, eggs, sausages, and even Prosecco. Lunch featured a buffet with fresh salads and soups, and dinner had a similar buffet style with mains, cheese, and desserts. Tea time was a treat with 8-10 different cakes—wow! The spa and wellness area were equally impressive, featuring an indoor-outdoor pool, large sauna, hammam, steam room, and a relaxing room. The spa does have a fully nude policy, which may be worth noting for some. The key system was very convenient with wristbands that granted access to rooms, pools, and the gym. Speaking of the gym—it was fully equipped and well-maintained. The hotel itself is beautifully designed in a traditional Swiss chalet style but with modern amenities. It’s privately owned and impeccably maintained. Overall, a relaxing and luxurious experience. Highly recommended!
A Beautiful Retreat with room for Improvement The Ermitage in Gstaad is a truly beautiful and luxurious retreat. From the warm welcome at the reception to the tastefully decorated rooms, the setting is ideal for rest and rejuvenation. Despite a few areas for improvement, the hotel maintains a warm charm and high standard. The Wellness area is well- equipped and beautifully designed with multiple saunas, pools and quiet zones. However, during my stay it felt a bit overcrowded, and unfortunately some guests didn't respect the spa etiquette. I was especially impressed by the Pilates and Yoga classes, wich were led with professionalism and a calming presence. These sessions were a true treat for both body and mind. Dinner was a mixed experience. While the ingredients were of a high quality, the preparation of food didn`t quite meet expectations. The solo- entertainer in the Lobby for me was unfortunately more irritating than enjoyable. In this case silence or soft instrumental music would have been preferable. A special compliment goes to the housekeeping staff, who were extremely attentive and efficient.Their work contributed significantly to overall comfort of the stay. In any case I will visit you again.
We had dinner at the Hermitage Restaurant on February the 18th 2025. What was over many years each time a wonderful experience, turned out this time to be a huge disappointment. To begin with, the service wasn’t at all up to the task in a restaurant of this category. The menu is written in a very non user friendly way and the food that is ultimately served doesn’t always correspond to what the menu was actually promising. The light was very dim, so that our table neighbours needed to ask for an additional lamp to see what they actually had in their plate. Only this additional lamp turned out to be broken and there was no replacement. A restaurant in a hotel that claims to present an upper social standing has fallen way behind the offering of past years and decades, very disappointing!
