Esplanade Boutique Hotel

Very retro. Lots of fun. Great nights sleep. Loved the pool too.

This is genuinely one of our favorite boutique hotel experiences we have ever had as a family. I was intrigued by what I found online about the hotel and knew it was going be a great beach, pool, and cultural experience. It has so far exceeded expectations. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed. The space is visually beautiful and you can tell someone artfully put together the collections. I’m also a huge fan of European breakfast but sometimes you don’t know what you are going to find. The breakfast served the most amazing yogurts, pastries, fresh fruit, and locally made goodies. Wowww!! But the real reason we have loved this experience so much is that we have been treated so kindly by the staff. The friendly culture everyone talks about southern Italy shown through by how amazing and heartfelt the staff has been about us as a LGBTQ family. It’s been really a lovely experience!

Honestly just avoid, this place isn't a hotel, it's a wedding venue, just look at the majority of reviews, guests are not even remotely a priority. There are weddings here 5-6 times a week, making you feel very out of place and uncomfortable on your own holiday. Multiple times I was kept awake past 1am by the weddings right outside my room in the gardens below. Service is poor, rooms aren't great, had no hairdryer and the mini fridge didn't work in one of our rooms meaning the milk went rancid overnight creating a bad smell. Food and drink is laughably over priced, charged €28 euro for a club sandwich and breakfast was fine, nothing to write home about, nice fresh produce but terrible coffee and hopeless wait staff! Location surrounding the hotel is bad, very few restaurants, mostly run down camp sites and caravan parks. Beach is long and NOT very picturesque and is quite dirty with litter and rubbish. Only redeeming factor is this hotel is gorgeous, from the entrance and lobby to the gardens and pool, it's well maintained and beautiful. Apart from the fact that multiple times we were asked to leave the pool early because a wedding was taking place there and we needed to go somewhere else. Overall, avoid hotel Esplanade and the sister hotel Savoy and in general just this area on the Cilento coastline, a disappointing experience for a hefty price tag.
