Ettington Park Hotel

We recently had our wedding at Ettington Park Hotel and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day. From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to make our day truly special. Olivia was fantastic in the lead up, always on hand to answer our (many!) questions and guide us through the planning process On the day itself, Sam and Lily and the wider team were incredible. Everything ran so smoothly and they set the room up perfectly, which meant the boys didn’t have to faff around putting all the little bits together and could focus on getting ready and enjoying the morning. The Hathaway Suite looked absolutely stunning, even better than we had imagined! The venue is so pretty and we were so lucky that the weather held out and we were able to have the ceremony under the Orangery and a game of rounders in the afternoon. The food was amazing - several guests said it was the best they’d ever had at a wedding. We’re so glad we chose Ettington Park as our venue – it was perfect and well worth the money. An exquisite character hotel! Set in lovely parkland with pleasant views all around. Staff were gems: desk, restaurant, and room crew members all the best at their professions. Breakfast is not to be missed. Highly recommend the French Toast and fresh squeezed orange juice! Easy parking included. Short drive to Stratford upon Avon. Will return definitely!

I generally refrain from writing negative reviews — as one can easily observe, my feedback is usually sincere and charming. But yesterday, this hotel drove me to tears and a migraine, so I shall make an exception. This establishment boldly advertises itself as “animals friendly.” A touching sentiment — in theory. In practice, however, we were refused entry because we happened to be travelling with a cat. The lady at reception, in a display of truly Victorian hospitality, informed us: “You may have the room, but not the cat. You can leave her in the car.” How very friendly. I’m sure leaving a living creature in a locked vehicle for two days is exactly what the brochure had in mind. In eight years of travelling across the globe with my cat, this is the only hotel that has pointed her to the door — quite literally. No apology, no compromise, merely the haughty pronouncement: “We’re dog friendly, not cat friendly.” For the benefit of the hotel staff’s continuing education: a cat, surprising as it may sound, is in fact an animal. Therefore, claiming to be “animals friendly” while excluding cats is not simply misleading — it is, let’s call it what it is — a barefaced lie. Out of three weeks of travelling through England, this hotel was by far the most bitter disappointment. Bravo.
