Unbelievable stay. From check in to check out we were greeted with great service and hospitality. The room is BEAUTIFULLY designed and the amenities are top tier. The real highlight is the food. My wife and I didn’t have a single dish or drink we didn’t enjoy, which is so rare! Seriously every single dish we had was phenomenal and we would go back just for the food. Even the pool bar food was so flavorful and so yummy. Please visit this resort and go to every restaurant!

This was such an exceptional experience from start to finish. I loved how the resort felt small and intimate and very easy to navigate. The pools are glorious. The restaurants are great. The gym was fabulous. The spa was top notch. The staff was exceptional and everywhere we went, they remembered our one year-old son Oliver‘s name. It was just a truly marvelous all around experience. My only complaint (that’s out of their control) is there’s this overwater bungalow resort right next-door that is kinda an eyesore. It kind of takes away from the view on the beach. But truly, that was my only complaint. We had such a five star spectacular experience and would highly recommend this to anyone!

We loved the property and the serene atmosphere! Etéreo is a stunning resort with kind, welcoming staff. They partner with St. Regis and Edition and offer transportation between them, which makes exploring and dining easy. After visiting all three, I found Etéreo’s setting to be the most intimate and beautiful, and it seemed to preserve nature the best. Our top floor ocean view room had an incredible open water view, and staff greeted us warmly everywhere. Dining: Itzam was outstanding—comparable or better than the tasting menu at Ki’Is. Fresh tortillas are made as you enter, and dinner standouts include the catch of the day and churros. Breakfast dishes like croissant, yogurt, taco de papa, and the fruit platter were also great. Highly recommend! Beach/poolside dining was solid—especially the nachos and creamy lobster taco. Pool staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Che Che was just okay. There were a lot of bees, flies, and tiny bugs swarming and touching the food, which made dining uncomfortable. It would be helpful if the hotel added natural insect-repellent candles or similar solutions at Che Che. The hibachi itself was fresh and flavorful, but the “miso-glazed” catch of the day tasted more like a burnt red glaze with little miso flavor. As an Asian guest, I’d love to see some Japanese sides—like tsukemono, teriyaki-glazed nori, mentaiko— to complement the dishes. Thoughtful touches: We appreciated the complimentary popsicles, free water bottles at the gym & room, little gifts left by housekeeping to take home, and the early to-go breakfast arranged (even before the restaurant opened!) before our excursion. Our Amex Platinum room upgrade benefit and late checkout were also honored. These gestures made a huge difference, showed care, and made our stay truly special. Fees to watch for: A 16% service fee is added to all bills (split amongst staff), and room service adds the 16% service charge + 18% auto gratuity + delivery fee—nearly 40% extra before tax. These fees aren’t clearly disclosed up front, so they can add up and are worth noting. Still, I’d recommend bringing extra cash to tip staff directly (bellmen/cart drivers, server, pool staff, housekeeping) in person—they are so friendly and work so hard in the sun to make sure guests have a pleasant time. They totally deserve it. Recommendation for management: Private excursions (ruins, cenote, snorkeling) were amazing but are on the high end ($1,200–$1,600 + tip for guide and driver). We did one private excursion and loved it. However, we would love to see more complimentary or small group options on top of the private ones—especially within the hotel or across the 3 resorts. Jet skiing isn’t allowed at Etéreo to protect the ecosystem (a good thing), but other nearby resorts offer it. Snorkeling is ~$100/person- other than this, moderately priced beach activity options are limited. Some wellness classes like yoga or mat Pilates are offered ($50/person) on certain days, but more frequent or free ones would be great. Other luxury brands like Ritz-Carlton Reserve or Four Seasons typically include complimentary activities, and I imagine many Etéreo guests have also stayed at those properties around the world and come to expect similar offerings. Overall: Wonderful resort, beautiful setting, great service. Would definitely recommend and hope to return. Thank you for having us!
