Huge, but slightly worn down rooms. Bathrooms nicely renovated with floor heating. Room heating was not working very well, so it could become a bit cold (but still acceptable) at night (in November). Given the low price per night, it's really a good deal though. Good breakfast selection with fresh fruit, various smoked fish, cheese, the typical bacon+sausage+eggs (fried, omelette, 3+5 minute boiled). Freshly made pancakes. Selection of bread could have been a bit more varied, but we really enjoyed it all in all.
The hotel has the charm of an old-time luxurious hotel. The common areas are breathtakingly beautiful and the service very friendly and helpful. The location is very good, next to a park, with a bus and tram station almost in front of the building, short walk to the city center, the train station and a shopping center. We asked for and got a calm room (no 410), which is on the top floor. It has small windows towards the street, which some others complained about, but we found it practical. It keeps the noise out and also we could sleep well when the room was dark. The room has also a normal window to the backyard. The beds are comfortable, the furniture good enough, but the floor carpet should be changed against a wooden floor. It has a slight smell and looks used. Also the wallpaper should be renewed. Same goes for the curtains, although they might already benefit from being washed. The bathroom is large, as is the bath tub. Good shower also. The toilet seat was not properly attached, which didn't affect its functioning though. One night someone in the room next door forgot the television on and the sound came through the ventilation system. We didn't really sleep that night. The breakfast has good and less good parts. There is a lot to choose from, but the warm dishes weren't always hot, glasses were missing, and bread wasn't refilled. Also a toaster would have come in handy. We ate breakfast every day, but it is not a 4-star breakfast. There is a sauna and a cold-water whirlpool which you can rent for two hours at a time for free. Note: You are not allowed to throw water on the stones!!! But you can bring your own drinks.
Good location, friendly staff. We went there mainly for the parking, unfortunately it was full on the first night but parking is free in the same street after 20:00. The next morning the staff kindly save a place for our car. Good breakfast. Classy ("old-fashion") environment
