The only negative was that the room was a little small, with only about a foot of room between the end of the bed and furniture. But the room was very comfortable, and very conducive to sleep. Everything else was good. The staff at the desk was always very helpful and friendly. During check-in, while making a request, and check out, everybody was very helpful and friendly. I didn't know what to expect in downtown Boston, but this was affordable but very pleasant. I would definitely stay again.

What's the saying? "Location, Location, Location." If so, this hotel is a winner. Accommodations are fair, sheets and towels are clean, but nothing spectacular. Only one elevator -- hotel seems more utilitarian than luxury BUT you are seconds from TD Garden and minutes from the North End, Quincy Market and other great local "must-visits". For that reason and that reason ONLY, I give it 4 stars.

On check in we waited without acknowledgement while the two staff members finished their conversation, not a good impression! After a long wait for the lift (we appreciate the building is old but the lift was very slow throughout our stay), we reached our room. The room was very dark with just one window right in the corner of the room, partially obscured by the shelving unit. Lights were needed during the day even with both blinds open. Only one cup was provided even though it was a booking for two people. In the bathroom there were two small towel hooks both directly over the toilet. There was no grab rail over the bath/shower, and overall the bathroom was dated. The sliding door to the bathroom didn't have a proper handle just a thumbnail lock - if I used this it was difficult to then open the door. Our room did not look like the pictures on the website, very misleading and it was small. We had breakfast one morning but there was no choice of coffee and they did not provide hot milk even though it was requested. There was also coffee available in the lobby during the day but quite often the milk was empty and coffee stale. On the plus side the hotel is in a great location close to Boston's sights and public transport, and there are some comfy sofas in the lobby. Overall this is not really a 4* boutique hotel in our opinion. The customer service was poor, and we waited for our final invoice to be emailed to us for over a week and sending an email request (which has not been acknowledged). We do not make a habit of leaving reviews like this but do a lot of research before booking our vacations and the website led us to believe this hotel would be just what we were looking for. Unfortunately in this instance it did not live up to it's expectations.
