It was just a quick over night trip visiting families and a twenty people family lunch at the Chinese restaurant on the second floor. We checked in at 3pm, the rooms were ready for us on the 6th floor but due to my limited mobility I requested a room on the lower floor incase of evacuation. The staff was very helpful and friendly found me an accessible room on the third floor. I was very grateful for that. We proceed to change our next day lunch reservation for the family gathering. Initially we spoke to a gentleman on the phone who refused to tell us his name and told us that the availability was all he had and that was all. We went to the restaurant and spoke to Gloria Kuo, she gave us options either that or a room which could accommodate 20 people. She was friendly and would work with us to accommodate the changes. She had changed our perception of the restaurant. Room: a little outdated but still comfortable. Recommend to have two pillows per bed as to one pillow. Also, complimentary water bottles would be great addition after come in from the hot weather. Chinese restaurant: service was great and attentive. The reserved room had its own washroom. That was a good bonus for elderlies for sure. Overall, we had a great family get together without going elsewhere. All outside families came to the restaurant they also got complimentary parking passes. Thank you.
The breakfast was mediocre, which was a bit disappointing for a 4-star hotel—I expected a better buffet. The room was clean but somewhat outdated. None of us slept well, and the beds definitely need an upgrade. They also didn’t provide any toiletries, which can be inconvenient for foreign tourists. The only upside was the location. Given the price range, I’ll likely choose a different hotel next time I visit Taichung.
The hotel staff were great and had no issues with the rooms. The rooms were quite spacious and many great amenities in the room. Great stay itself but not the breakfast. I was quite disappointed with the lack of friendly customer service at the breakfast area of the hotel. The staff had an unprofessional attitude and quite rude when people ask questions or ask very basic requests like they didn’t want to be bothered. I never encountered this before at a hotel (especially wouldn’t expect it at a highly rated hotel too). I hope the team looks into this, as this really sets a bad impression on the hotel despite the hotel rooms/stay itself being a comfortable experience.
