Excelsior Hotel Ernst am Dom

Our stay at Hotel Ernst and Dom was outstanding in every way. The hotel’s location, right by the iconic Cologne Cathedral, made exploring the city incredibly convenient. Our room was both quiet and luxurious, offering a peaceful retreat with elegant touches that made us feel truly pampered. The breakfast each morning was a highlight, with a generous selection of delicious, high-quality options to start the day. The service throughout our stay was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and accommodating. I would highly recommend Hotel Ernst and Dom for anyone seeking a romantic getaway in Cologne.

Staff have been extremely professional and welcoming. The hotel definitely has an old world, classy feel and the location to the rail station cannot be beat. However do not believe the pictures- this is what the rooms look like, I might as well be in Eastern Germany in 1950, not worth the price whatsoever. Update on the review, the shower in my room was incredible, had to be highest pressure shower I have ever had in the world:). I appreciate the follow up from the Hotel, I would love to stay here again and hopefully get a updated room.

Stayed in the Standard Room. Good clean room however its very dated. For the price charged of 370usd per night its simply too expensive. They do offer a free mini bar service which is a plus. Carpet needs an urgent change and its simply not acceptable for this room type to be a 5 star hotel. I have stayed in the past in their Deluxe Rooms and those are modern and very well designed.
