I absolutely loved my stay at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. It’s easily one of the most relaxing and beautiful hotels I’ve ever visited. Every detail here feels thought out to make your stay special 🙌🏽 The geothermal mineral pools are incredible, both outdoors and indoors, with extra mineral pools, a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, ice shower, and even ice-cold towels. It’s the perfect way to unwind and leave your skin feeling amazing. In the evenings, they light the outdoor fires, hand out blankets, and you can roast marshmallows under the stars. It’s pure magic. Our room was beautiful, with a fireplace and complimentary logs delivered daily, plus a balcony where we enjoyed our morning coffee listening to the birds. The whole property is surrounded by stunning scenery, and even the roads you drive through to get here are picture-perfect. The hotel also offers free bikes to explore the local neighbourhood! The food and drinks are fantastic & the free nightly wine tasting is such a treat. After all, you’re right in the heart of Wine Country. There’s even a champagne bar for those extra-special moments 🥰 From start to finish, it was peaceful, luxurious, and full of those little touches that make a trip unforgettable. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more if you’re looking for a truly special Sonoma getaway!
My husband, daughter, and I really enjoyed our stay here. Our corner room with many windows, large floor-plan, and separate area for the couch-bed was perfect. The service in the bar and at the pool was very friendly. We really enjoyed swimming in the mineral water pool during the day, and having s’mores around the fire pit at night. The hotel is lovely and historic, and only an eight minute drive to downtown. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back.
I always feel bad writing a negative review...but I feel worse spending $1500 for two nights and having the experience we did. Okay, first the good: the staff are all nice and helpful, so this isn't about them at all, really appreciated the little touch of having sunscreen at the pool, and the grounds are lovely. The bad: the first interaction we had was the valet telling us that to park ourselves would cost something like $27/night and to use the valet would cost $40 something a night. We were immediately put off-- we had spent $1500 for two nights only to be greeted with that welcome. It felt cheap and tacky for a five star hotel. Then, the smell starting right from when you walk into the lobby is disgusting. It smells heavily of a dentist's office, and then as you walk up the stairs it smells like mildew and old carpet mixed together. I was already grossed out by the time I got to the check in desk and looking to see what other options were in the area. Hospitality is all about nailing the introduction, and man, did they miss. Our room was small and fairly outdated. The bathroom fixtures, bathtub, and tile were old, and the carpet is well worn and had the same gross smell. We went out and bought candles which helped a bit, but...overall, not the vibe, at least at that price. Overall this seems like the Fairmont Sonoma is well past its prime, and I would not book again.
