Lovely location with wonderful gardens. Service was good and pleasant and the rooms were furnished nicely although could do with a little attention but nothing too bad. Only stayed 1 night and had breakfast in the morning which was very nicely cooked. Also cereal and continental breakfast available/as well. I will go back and stay again and visit the surrounding area. Very delightful 🙂
A mansion that suddenly appears in a quiet countryside area. The female staff at the reception were very kind, and the first impression was good. The central hall has been renovated, and sunlight pours in, giving it a sense of openness. The fusion of old and new is in perfect harmony. The vast grounds are decorated with a Japanese garden and lanterns, which impressed me as a Japanese person. The room was clean and well-equipped, and the bed was the most comfortable I've had in a long time. The breakfast menu was extensive, and the restaurant, decorated in a Japanese style, was open and very nice. I would definitely recommend this lodging to everyone.
We wouldn't normally stay somewhere so grand, but booking.com had this at only a little more than Premier Inn (although, add the £22 for breakfast each and it started to get a bit pricier). It truly is a fantastic place: a beautiful house and amazing gardens, including a formal garden close to the house and a Japanese garden connected by a beautiful wisteria path (no doubt a favourite spot for wedding photos). I couldn't believe how quiet it was - I think I only saw a couple of staff members for the two days we were there, and only a handful more guests. But that's what made it such a good stay, it was very quiet and very relaxing. We were lucky and got our room upgraded (possibly because there seemed to be hardly anyone there). We were in one of the courtyard rooms, which was really home from home - as in there only seemed to be one towel and it took me ages to find the TV remote. Joking aside it was a lovely, light room, really clean and comfortable. I can't finish without mentioning the cooked breakfast. It was exceptional, and it was a massive plateful. I didn't need it after a curry in Ware the night before, but that didn't stop me. Can find no fault with this place, and would definitely recommend it.
