Fattoria di Rigone

We were welcomed by 3 generations of this wonderful family to their amazing home. The apartment was pristine .Breakfast for next day, welcome tray of homemade delights and olive oils. Louana had made us the most delicious pie. Next day she presented us with homemade unsalted warm bread and homemade meats. Pietro is so friendly . At 85 he keeps involved in all activity on the farm. The pool was first class and impeccably clean. All the family were very friendly and helpful. Even the cats and dogs made us welcome. Our apartment was upgraded at no extra cost and was beautiful. We were given produce from the farm.. eggs, salads, cucumber and an endless supply of cherries. Chilled white wine by the pool...we will never forget. The family advised us to visit Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, Castiglione del Lago all individual beautiful towns worth visiting. We enjoyed our visit so much .We stayed for 10 days and will definitely go back there as soon as possible.

Excellent experience of a real "agriturismo". We are a family of two Italian parents and three daughters born in USA. We have been living in USA for 18 years. We stayed at Fattoria di Rigone for 4 nights, in June 2018, in the room Il Balcone. The room is in fact an apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a kitchen a living room and a small terrace. The building was a 15th century summer residence of an aristocratic family, recently renovated. The position is extremely convenient. At the same time isolated in an enchanting Umbrian valley, surrounded by hills with olive trees, vines, what fields, small woods, which is ideal for hiking or running. At the same time it is at about 20-35 minutes drive from most interesting artistic and historical sites, such as Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Città di Castello, but also lesser know yet beautiful little "borghi", such as Montone or Pieve di Santo Stefano. The apartment was spotless, and contained all that is needed to live. The owners were the most adorable people and went out of their way to spoil us. We found coffee and milk in the kitchen, but also an homemade fruit pie, and jars of various homemade jellies and marmalade, and their locally produced olive oil (the farm owns hundreds of olive trees). During our stay they brought us all sort of produce from their farm, such as of eggs from their chicken, huge amounts of delicious cherries from their trees. One evening they asked us if they could bring us a 'tasting' of their cold cuts and delis and torta al testo (a local Umbrian flat bred cooked on a stone on wood fire) which turned out to be in fact a dinner for five. Signor Pietro, 85 yo, also gave us a tasting of the liquors he makes. This is a real farm, which used to raise some of the most famous bulls of the Chianina variety (the very ancient, white, giant cows that were used by Etruscans and Romans), and still has various animals, fields, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, which the guests are welcome to pick from. Our daughters loved interacting with the animals, picking cherries, and used the swimming pool extensively before and after our visits to the surrounding artistic cities. The view of the surrounding hills from the pool is beautiful. The accommodation is truly ideal for a family and I fully recommend it. Depending on your provider your phone might or might not work; mine did not, which was a plus for me. This is a real agriturismo, not a farm turned into a B&B for tax reasons. It is a real farm, and a beautiful, ordered, good looking, historical one. Children will enjoy this environment, including playing with the many cats and dogs and interacting with farm animals. The surrounding view is enchanting. The views from all our room is spectacular. The location is close to all the major historical attraction. The owners are most welcoming people who clearly love to have guests in their historical building. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic 14 days holiday. We never expected so much hospitality! The appartments were very clean with a lot of space. The fact the agriturismo is on an active farm made it very enjoyable (especially for the children). We will never forget our Umbria experience!
