Fattoria Poggio Capponi

Fantastic place, we chosed on purpose to stay here, has a wonderful charm, and the history of the estate is interesting as well. The shower is Italian style (tiny) but everything else we enjoyed.

Wow! What a location. We had a 12 night stay early July 2024. The pool is great. The apartments down at the little village make for an interesting community of fellow travelers. And close to the lovely hill town of Montespertoli for supplies. The wine tour, which is part of the stay, just caps it of perfectly.

I visited this winery with a tour group. Although the host was very knowledgeable the winery itself was terribly maintained and dirty inside the cellars with some kind of thick unidentified mold growing on the walls and dirt caked on the floors. The winery has an ancient history and was apparently used as a bomb shelter at one time. Antique bottles are on display but I wouldn’t breathe near them since there’s a heavy layer of repository agitating crud on everything. Pics posted. I didn’t buy anything at this location. I’ve toured multiple wineries for comparison to a level of cleanliness expected.
