We loved this hotel, excellent service from all the staff, the concierge team were really helpful in helping us find restaurants and choose activities. The general manager made the effort to speak to every guest, the rooms were spacious and had all been refurbished to a very high standard. The hotel is not in one single location, many of the rooms are in separate buildings so it’s a campus set up. Unfortunately there was a power outage for 24 hours whilst we were staying there which was somewhat inconvenient, they have electric water pumps which means there was neither electricity nor water in the rooms for a day.
Went for a spa treatment and lunch. Spa and massage were fairly good. Lunch was below average. For a 1pm reservation, they sat us at 145pm, and this is after we spoke to 3 or 4 different staff members. Once we were sat we were given a limited pool side menu, not the lunch menu. For a restaurant with fantastic dinner reviews the lunch menu was a let down. Staff was able to call us a taxi after lunch, which was helpful.
Menorca itself is absolutely stunning—we were in town for a wedding and had such an incredible weekend surrounded by natural beauty, charm, and history. Faustino Gran (Foscino) is located right in the heart of Ciutadella, just steps from the port. The hotel is spread across several gorgeous, restored palaces that are truly awe-inspiring. When I arrived, I was genuinely stunned by how peaceful and aesthetically beautiful it all was. My room overlooked the chapel and a serene pool—really a dream setting. The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious. The Faustino salad, in particular, was to die for—we craved it every day and would’ve gladly had it on repeat. That said, for a property marketed as a high-end luxury experience, the service was surprisingly lax. At the on-site restaurant, staff were often hard to flag down, and communication was difficult due to the language barrier. At one point, even the manager was curt with my family and me, which caught us off guard. While the overall atmosphere is visually luxurious, the management and attentiveness do not reflect a five-star experience. The beds were extremely firm, and I didn’t sleep well during my stay. The shampoo and conditioner—while nicely scented—completely stripped my hair, and I had to go out and buy replacements. There were also quite a few flies in the lobby, which made the first impression a little off-putting. I don’t want to disregard the kindness of one of the hotel managers I briefly spoke with—she was lovely. But generally, the tone of the service felt more passive than warm or accommodating. Perhaps this is just the slower island rhythm, but for the price point and brand image, I expected more care and refinement. The setting is unforgettable, and I truly hope the service rises to meet it over time.
