This is our second time camping here. This time we stayed in the more secluded camp spots closer to the river. As a female, I wish there were some portaloos a bit closer, as its a very long and dark walk to the toilet block. I love this place. The canoeing is definitely a huge highlight for the kids plus all the sports equipment. This time though, the restaurant wasn't open to campers, the tree swing wasn't hooked up and the spa has gone.
With encouragement from friends, we visited Ferns Hideaway Resort in the Byfield National Park area to see if we would like to camp with our van there sometime; yes please! There is a mix of accommodation, including self-contained cabins and self-contained camping and caravan sites. The setting is well laid out and peaceful, and located alongside Water Park Creek, perfect for canoe paddling.
The hostess Anna is a lovely lady. Beautiful living area and modest kitchen. The location is superb if you're a nature lover. We camped in a tent and had wonderful time. Close to lots of different activities like stoney creek and local pottery gallery. Will definitely be back for a longer stay!
