It's a well located hotel, the lady on reception was friendly, the bed was very comfortable and room surfaces were clean... .....unfortunately the hotel is very tired with worn/stained carpets, walls in the room are marked, badly painted, water marks above the stairs to the ensuite. Mis matched, chipped furniture, mould/mildewy bathroom celing, old dated carpets and curtains. We didn't have water glasses in our room, just two small teacups. We asked for glasses and got wine glasses, which was fine as we wanted to toast our wedding Anniversary, but i thought glasses were a simple expectation in a hotel room. If it was refurbished and some time and care went into the cosmetics of the rooms so the walls are clean and nicely painted, carpets clean and updated and furniture isn't damaged, it would be lovely. Its an old building, so it will have imperfections. I don't mind it not being contemporary inside as its an old building, but it needs some love and TLC to be a nice basic hotel.
I had a terrible experience at The Fielding Hotel. The room was extremely small and cramped, with a broken AC and fan — making it miserable in the heat. There’s no elevator, and we had to drag all our luggage up a narrow, steep staircase with no assistance. The toilet seat was crooked and uncomfortable, adding to the overall neglect. Customer service? Practically nonexistent. The staff were rude and clearly uninterested in helping guests. Overall, just an incredibly disappointing and frustrating stay. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.
Two things we specifically requested by email on booking. Was Air conditioning, and super king bed. Both were confirmed via email. On arrival Air conditioning was not working, and the bed was not as requested. Reception could not get hold of anyone to repair Air con.Not even a manager. It was far to hot in the room. They said they couldn't move us as no other room was available. But they could move us the next night. I asked for Reception to log a complaint and request compensation. Neither of us slept that night. Next day we were moved. We were told to email our complaint and they would arrange compensation. This we did on numerous occasions and have not had any response. Non existent customer service. Would the owners of this hotel like to reply or get in touch. Update To all readers. The owners did not reach out to apologise for our awful stay, or to discuss the issues we had had even though we had previously emailed our requests and had an email back. Confirming our requests. Or make an offer of compensation. So for all future patrons of this hotel, please be aware that the owner will not properly respond to any complaints. The reception staff can not get in touch with maintenance, manager or owner when needed. Disgraceful
