Finca Valdobar

We stayed at Finca Valdovar for three nights with our three kids, and we truly had an unforgettable experience. I wish I could give this place 10 stars! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional—they truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. The property itself is stunning, full of charm and character as it was once an old furniture factory. There’s a huge yard where the kids could run, play, and ride bikes (which are provided on-site!), and we loved seeing them so free and happy in such a safe and beautiful environment. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful, offering us everything we needed to make the most of our stay—from the best local restaurants and cultural activities to nearby vineyards worth exploring. The apartment was thoughtfully prepared, fully equipped with a complete kitchen and stocked with essentials like bread, ham, cheese, water, and even fresh muffins. There’s also a wine fridge filled with a selection of local wines available for purchase, which was a lovely touch. This was, hands down, one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic Stay, fantastic place. We stayed in mid July, temperature up to 40 degrees Owners: Friendly, welcoming, very helpful. Apartment: cool (much needed with the temperatures out side), upscale rustic charm, comfortable, and well equipped. Location: on the outskirts of town in a quite area right next to the river (with it's small river beach). Easy 10-15 min walk into town. Loads of other amenities etc on site. The owner have put a lot of though into everything. Right in the heart of wine county, so great for wine tourism. And there's loads of historical landmarks etc around. Safe and secure, kids can run around safely here, so good for families. And the big question, would we go back, 100% yes.

A fabulous place to stay for 3 days- wished we'd stayed longer! Ideal location for a short stroll into Penafiel or up to Protos for a tasting. The place is fantastic- so peaceful and calm and delightful to sit on the back terrace in the evening sun and watch the river roll by . Or take breakfast on the front terrace in the morning sun! The apartment is soo well equipped in all aspects- such a comfortable bed and great bathroom and shower and laundry facilities also available. Loads of good towels as well. The hosts are so wonderfully kind and helpful. Check in was so easy and quick and we just loved the place and the area and would love to come back. Thank you. Rosa & Felix even left us provisions of bread, cakes, jams and butter etc and coffee pods and orange juice!! The ladder in the middle of the kitchen area is not great but you get used to it surprisingly quickly and it is no bother at all!
