Nice hotel with basic rooms (I like that they have a small balcony and seating area in each room). We had a room right above the swimming pool, maybe that inspired us, because we swam every morning. The hotel comes with a nice restaurant and a lovely billiard pool table.

This hotel is situated in a beautiful region and is excellently positioned to reach most of it quite easily. There isn’t that much to do in Lochem, but active people will be more than content. The hotel has decent facilities, however the rooms are frankly quite terrible. Everything is old , worn and dirty or downright nasty. The carpets were stained and discolored, as were the seats and curtains. The rooms smell like a retirement home and are very dusty. Especially in the bathroom the retirement home was quite evident. Perhaps this was also because the hotel itself reminds one of a retirement home quite vividly; certainly not an inspiring get-away destination. Having access to a swimming pool and private sauna time is very nice. The restaurant also looks very nice, but the breakfast is uninspiring at best, but not necessarily bad quality. The menu card for dinner is very limited and uninspiring so opted not to eat there for dinner at all. It is evident that the staff do not take their jobs very seriously and are very conscious of the poor state of the hotel. It is logical that the staff isn’t of high quality; a poor hotel does not attract good and motivated employees. Advice for younger folk: do not bother with this hotel. It is essentially a retirement home and this is reflected by those who choose to stay here.
