This hotel is technically in a castle, but the rooms are in the armory. The restaurant is in the castle portion. I wish they had more about the history of the building. However, everything was lovely. The food was great, as were the drinks, and the rooms were clean and comfy. The staff were very nice as well.
One of the better Fletcher hotels. Nice and friendly service. The rooms are apart situated from the chateau where the restaurant, bar and extra party/meeting rooms are. The room was clean and tidy. The shower had double showerheads! It is just a few minutes walk to the opposite site to get to the rooms. Parking is possible on the property or street side. But there is enough space on the property. Really nice.
I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The noise levels were very high due to wooden ceilings lacking proper sound insulation. The thin windows did little to keep out the external noise, and I was woken up multiple times by noise from outside, including a beggar on a nearby bridge. The room itself had low ceiling beams, resulting in multiple bumps to my head, especially on the first day. The mattress was too soft, forming a "hole" that made sleep uncomfortable. Despite the pillow menu laid out on the bed, my specific request at reception for a different pillow went unaddressed. The towels were unusually small, and with only one provided in the room, there were no hooks to dry it properly. Breakfast was a letdown too. The orange juice had an odd smell, like toothpaste, and the coffee, which came from a machine, was lackluster. Given the moderate-to-poor quality of the offerings, the price felt far from justified. To add to the overall atmosphere, the staff seemed disengaged and lacked the warmth and motivation you would expect. To top it off, the hotel rooms aren’t actually located in the castle itself but rather in a grain house across the street – a detail not made clear on booking. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, especially given the poor price-quality ratio and the myriad issues that took away from what could have been a much better experience.
