Fletcher Hotel Restaurant Kasteel Erenstein

I booked a last-minute stay at Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Kasteel Erenstein using a gift code. The main photo shows the castle, so I assumed I’d be staying there — but you actually sleep in a separate building about a 5-minute walk away. This wasn’t clear when booking, which was a bit disappointing. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the room had a strange smell and felt a bit outdated. If I had stayed more than one night or paid full price, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to stay longer. It’s a beautiful location, but be aware that you’re not staying in the castle itself.

When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist was nice and gave us directions. This hotel is very old and looks neglected. There are many stains around the room even though it is supposed to be clean. It does not feel like it is clean though. We got this room via a coupon code so it was not expensive, but do not book this for the original price, you will be disappointed.

The rooms were hot and poorly ventilated, with no air conditioning. Opening the windows only let in mosquitoes and spiders – which were already present in the room. When we brought this up with the staff, our concerns were dismissed in a mocking and unprofessional way, as if we were exaggerating. They even claimed they had “never heard this before,” which made us feel unheard and not taken seriously. Furthermore, the rooms were outdated, damp, and in poor condition. The reality does not match the online presentation at all. This is misleading and unacceptable. The pictures show an impressive castle, but unfortunately, you don’t stay there. The actual accommodation is in a different building, and this wasn’t clearly mentioned beforehand. It was a bit of a disappointment for us. I recommend paying attention to this detail before booking.
