So glad we stumbled across this place to stay. We were coming back from St. Andrews and wanted to stay near Alma. We got lost and on the way called Mary to tell her we might be a bit late. She helped give us directions and tips on what places might be open to pick up food. Unfortunately the restaurants were closed but the gas station was open so we picked up some microwaveable food. Mary and Cyril are absolutely a lovely elderly couple. Cyril just turned 85! They greeted us upon our arrival and Mary set a place for us in the kitchen and gave us dinnerware to heat up our food. She also made us tea which was much needed after our stressful drive. Their place is very lovely and cozy. Exactly what a historic home should be. Mary had turned up the heat in our room so it would be nice and warm for us. It was very clean. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into their home and that they take pride in it. Upon reading the history of the place, you also get a sense of how this place was Mary’s dream. In the morning, Mary had fruit bowls and orange juice ready for us. She made us coffee and yummy French toast with muffins. She also gave us helpful tips of the area and for the places we will be going. Mary is absolutely lovely and has such a sweet grandmotherly personality. It was very nice to talk her. Thank you Mary and Cyril for your hospitality. We are grateful to have spent a night of our honeymoon at your beautiful home.
First of all the owners are very friendly we felt very comfortable. The way the lady presented the spectacular breakfast is dreamy !! They told us several places to visit. Hopewell Rock Park is nearby and also the pier. If you are looking for something romantic and with antiquity is very good option.
We got a very small room, the host is polite but quite stiff and breakfast is disappointing. Not flexible, everyone has to eat at 8 and the only thing on offer were plain pancakes. Doesn't sound too dramatic but the price is just way too high for such an average experience.
