Fontevraud L'Ermitage

An incredible experience to stay on the grounds of the abbey and visit in the quiet of the evening. The hotel is welcoming and friendly. We had the picnic basket option for dinner - the food was delicious. There is room to do this novel option justice - we chose the plats du jour for each course & menu was unknown at time of order, so adding a menu in the basket when its delivered would be helpful. We saw no staff member from start to finish of the meal on the terrace so checking in once would be appropriate. The breakfast location is second to none, the choice is adequate. We stayed for a special occasion and it was really unique experience.

Fontevraud L'Ermitage is unquestionably a premium hotel that prides itself on its location, facilities and service. It is completely justified in doing so because everything we experienced was excellent, from the front-of-house service to the convenience of the proximity to the Abbey and its various attractions. We also ate at the Michelin-starred restaurant, which was a very special experience that will be remembered for a long time. The only reason that "Rooms" did not get 5 stars was because I really think that in high summer - we were there at the end of June - our room should have been fitted with air conditioning. (The website made us aware that there was no air-conditioning in the room but, irrespective, a hotel like L'Ermitage should not be offering rooms without air conditioning.)

Alyse was amazing - very helpful and accommodating! Our stay would have not been so great without her intervention. The only inconvenience was that rooms don't have A/C. We understand the concept, but this is 2025! Other than that, the rest of the properrty, the light show, the restaurant - superlative reviews! Thank you, #CristisiRalu
