Beautiful building with quite the view. Check in was quick and easy, the front desk was super friendly. The lobby has an incredible view. Happy hour in the lobby bar is 4-7 daily which was great. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The sauna has a wonderful view and patio. It was excellent. I was very happy with my stay here

Very nice hotel. Good clean rooms. Good service. Nice restaurant and a good breakfast. Access to a free sauna. We had a very nice room with a fantastic view over the lake. A very good location for exploring the area.

Extremely Disappointing Stay - Absolutely Not Worth the Price We recently stayed at the Fosshótel Mývatn for two nights, paying around €400 per night. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we have ever had in Iceland. We were assigned Room 101, which felt like the worst room in the entire hotel. It had a direct view of the parking lot, constant noise from the room above, and the sound of rolling suitcases being dragged right past our door all day. The bathroom was also poorly designed. The soap dispenser was mounted so high that our six-year-old could not reach it without help. You also could not take it off the wall. The most frustrating part, however, was the hotel's laundry service. I followed the care instructions exactly, but two pairs of my pants, which were both rated for the specified wash and dry temperatures, came back completely shrunk and unwearable. The hotel's only response was a simple "sorry" and a reference to a liability waiver I had signed. They didn't even refund the 4,500 ISK (approx. €33) laundry fee. For the high price we paid, we expected significantly more comfort, better service, and basic accountability. Our stay was far from that, and we absolutely cannot recommend this hotel or support its outrageous service.
