Frich s Hotel Surnadal

The family room is spacious, clean and comfortable. The view to the first was unfortunate, but not a problem for us. We just came to sleep The breakfast was minimal, staff friendly. Hallways could use some renovation 😉

For Norwegian standards it’s a little above average. I would give another star if the bar was open during the weekdays. Most of the staff are super nice. Except one elderly blond woman who was grumpy all week.

This hotel is terrible and I would rather sleep in the car than in this hotel. This was probably a very old hotel that has been poorly refurbished. It had the oldest elevator I have ever seen and we first avoided it until someone from the hotel told us that we should take that elevator to get to our room. The hallway and the room smelled very old, and unpleasant. The room had some pieces of furniture that were relatively new or newly refurbished and others very old that smelled bad. The room was full of houseflies that were very annoying and disgusting. We had to literally hunt them down so that we can sleep. We missed one and it started buzzing at 4AM. The more disturbing fact is that the staff knows about the houseflies problem, yet they are not taking any actions - like installing window insect screens. The houseflies are from a farm nearby and you won’t get a discount if your room is full of them.
