Gainsborough Hotel

This is an amazing property. The staff go beyond expectations, kept our luggage safe after checkout, and the rooms were modern and comfortable for 3 of us. The property is historic. Thank you!!

A lovely stay at the Gainsborough Hotel. Check in smooth, map given for the private car park no issue with parking. My sister and I enjoyed wandering around Bath and back to the hotel. Luggage taken to the room. Mini bar and coffee if wanted. Personalised letter welcoming us and a bottle of wine, however they did get our names wrong addressed to Lana & Esra. We had booked the restaurant for dinner. Food was nice however not as good as you would expect from a 5 star. The bar was small but perfectly formed and the service was top notch! Breakfast was a let down, we were taken to our table, coffee and toast came out, we were told someone would be back to take our hot food order in 5 Minutes. However we sat there and then had to ask after 35 Minutes if they could please take our order. Came back and asked our room number, which felt like we had been missed and like we shouldn't be there, very poor. Rather than a relaxed breakfast experience, We rushed to eat it. We had treatments booked in the Spa Midday and missed out on the whole Spa experience because of this. However the treatments were pleasant.

The location is superb and neighbourhood felt very calm and safe. Service was friendly. We had a ground floor room so didn't have much of a view and was dark. The shower cubicle was very tight. You could only stand it and can't turn around in it and the sink in the bathroom was teeny! Water was splashing everywhere. I would stay again in this hotel if we had a bigger sized shower.
