Garden City Hotel

Excellent 5-Star golf resort, top notch 18-hole course with challenging greens, experienced caddies, first class facilities. Hotel is excellent, food is generally good. Location is 40 minutes outside of city center.

We checked in at the evening, air con is not working and the room smelled of smoke. When we told front desk they showed us another room also with no air con. Then when we complained staff were quite unhelpful overall and could not provide a suitable room. Hotel is quiet - no one around and far away from everything, sometimes needs half hour to call a car. And only one restaurant with poor service and because it is so far no food deliveries after 6pm. Golf course on property is beautiful and the view from the room is lovely. Free shuttle to the tennis tournament.

This hotel was nice and I think it’s well priced for what it is, half of it looked abandoned and it felt like we were the only ones there 😅 However, the pool was very clean, it had a nice shallow area for younger kids and they even brought us some floaties for the kids to use. We had to go around turning lights on in some areas because there was no one around but it was not a problem. The room itself was nice with a bathtub and big shower but the AC wasn’t working well the first night so it felt very hot. We tried the managers suggestion but it didn’t make a difference. The next night it worked better (maybe it needed a whole day to run since the room got a lot of sun). We had a nice view of the golf course and we just brought a chair out to the balcony because there was no place to sit. The breakfast included is very minimal unless you are there when a large group is also there, in which case you get a whole buffet. Otherwise you get a few cereals, some bread choices, a few fruits and you can request some eggs. They have a cappuccino machine with decent coffee. The staff were pretty friendly to us and our kids. We walked to the water park and if you keep the wrist band you can enter again but be mindful that it opens 10am-6 pm. They empty the water park at 5:30 already. I also wished the hotel had a better way to get you the discount tickets to the water park. They told us it was 30% off but when we got to the water park they told us that online only we could buy before 10 am. Finally, they allowed me to download an app called e-gets and get a nice discount buying via ABA online. Overall it was ok because we had a young child who needed to nap inside so that she could enjoy the water park after nap. Not sure if I would stay here again unless I came from outside of PP to enjoy the water park only (or golf course).
