Garden Hotel

I can't say enough about the garden hotel. When we first got to the room we were amazed at how nice the room was, a room like that in Vancouver Canada would of been around $300 a night. The toilet seat was heated which was incredible lol. The hotel staff set us up with a taxi driver who spoke English and brought us to the hanging temple and the grottoes. He was amazing and like a tour guide, but at the price of a cheap taxi ride. I can't remember his name, but say th Canadian couple had him in February. The staff also invited us out to the spring festival and got us into the city wall for free with the staff. This made Datong a must see and I totally recommend staying here if you don't speak Chinese as other hotels are a little harder to get help for an English tourist. The only bad thing I can say is that they set our standards too high lol. The next hotels have been a 5 star and a 4 star and they don't compare to how good the garden hotel was at all. I just want to go back to Datong now. Oh yeah and the breakfast buffet was great as well and room service was cheap and the Black Forest cake was delicious.

Decent hotel if you need to visit datong (to see the yungang grottes for instance.) THE TOILET IS AMAZING! Seriously though. Apart from that the breakfast was good. Also staff was helpful in setting up a car to take us to Yungang grottoes for the day which was very good. All i can say is it did have some broken down stuff such as a Leaky shower. Noisy dogs outside.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel; the rooms were clean and staff were friendly; I would go there again if I will visit Datong.
