Garden Street Inn A Kirkwood Collection Hotel

Another reviewer nailed it: this place feels like you are welcomed at a friend's home. There is no check-in desk or a digital key card like typical hotels. The concierge checks you in at an office desk, walks you up to your room, gives you room and house keys, and offers a glass of wine. Breakfast is ordered with the cook. Excellent service overall. The only downside is that this is an older building. Water pressure is weak, hot water tank is probably too small, sink is tiny, faucet is too short, there are no blackout curtains, and there was a wooden chair and a bench instead of a sofa. These small things added up to be notable. But overall it was a quaint and unique place I would go back to again.

This is a good hotel with a really nice atmosphere. It feels like staying as a guest at your friend’s house. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, one of the best hotel staff I’ve seen in California. They welcomed us with a complementary bottle of wine for the special occasion which was extremely kind of them. They even upgraded our room to a larger one. The breakfast was good too - on top of the regular sweet things and fruit they cooked a real small meal (warm toastie) which was unlike other California hotels I’ve stayed in during my trip. The rooms are made in old fashioned style which really creates a great atmosphere. There were a couple of side effects of this: the bed was pretty small compared to other hotels, the sink was right next to the bed and separate from the shower and the toilet which was not super comfortable. The tv was very small. The location was great and the hotel arranged a free overnight parking even. The price was fairly high. Overall the hotel staff were amazing, the rooms had their pros and cons. I can recommend this hotel for a stay if you are up for some atmosphere

This place is so cozy and inviting. My service was amazing. The breakfast was phenomenal and I even worked from the tables downstairs and watched how the staff interacted. You could tell that they really enjoyed working there and more importantly, enjoyed each other. Also Mac, was amazing and remembered small details! Overall this place was excellent and I will be back!
