Gardenia Hotel & Spa

It’s a decent place to stop over for one or two nights on your way to Greece ( for example ) but is in dire need of a major renovation as it has many signs of weare and tear; the pool and kids playground is nice though

My stay here was awful. If I could give 0 stars, I would. They were hosting a very loud event by the pool until 1 a.m., plus another wedding inside the hotel hall, none of which was mentioned when I booked. The music was so loud in my room it felt like it was playing right inside. I chose this place expecting peace and rest, but instead I got a sleepless night. When I complained, the receptionist simply told me they couldn’t do anything about it.

This was such a frustrating hotel stay. First, the blonde lady at the reception is extremely rude, rolls her eyes at you, and mocks you back when you ask her to explain her questions because her questions aren’t clear at all. The room that we booked (and it was one of the more expensive ones) smells like smoke. The door handles are completely broken. The bathroom is dirty; you can see black dirt in the shower. The spa bathrobes and some towels have holes. The bed has a hole or something similar on one side, so it’s extremely uncomfortable to sleep. The hotel turns on music on the ground floor at 6:45 in the morning; you can hear it in the room, so no sleep since that time (all windows are closed, of course). There are no good curtains/blinds, so there’s lots of light in the room in the morning as well. The hotel spa is terrible. It smells like mildew or mould and is clearly rarely cleaned. The swimming pool has some dirt in the corners. The saunas don’t warm up to any actually hot temperatures. The jacuzzi also doesn’t work properly except heating up water to boiling temperatures. One of the exits from the spa is a fake one even though it has an exit sign. You open the door and see a wall. :) The gym doesn’t have any weights. It only has three treadmills (one of which is out of order). There’s a ping-pong table, but good luck playing without a ball. Hotel breakfast is cold, some dishes are covered with small flies. Some fruits are moldy (see the pic) The waitress at the restaurant and the man at the reception who came after the blonde lady were the only nice hotel staff that we met. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. The hotel claims to be five stars and charges accordingly but in the end, it leaves the impression of a dirty two-star hotel with old, large, but dirty rooms that you overpaid for.
