Garner Hotel Rome Aurelia by IHG

Worried about some of the reviews, but it's had a refurbishment our room was very nice. Good hot, strong shower. Reception is very good. Breakfast was fine,mostly continental, but scrambled eggs and bacon are available. Hairdryer in room but no iron, so unless you are willing to pay for the ironing service make sure you pack well Minus points. There are only 4 hangers for 2 people and a lack of plug sockets. Tea and coffee and water on arrival but had to ask for them from then on. It's about a 10 to 15 min walk to the Metro, but it's a straight road that is very busy so please only use the crossings. So easy from the Metro to get to all the major attractions that Rome and the Vatican City have to offer.

I booked Garner Hotel Autelia thinking it would be a 4-star experience as advertised by IHG — but it’s definitely not a 4-star hotel, so don’t expect that level of comfort or service. I stayed for 2 nights. The first night was terrible — the room was tiny, with no basic amenities (just a kettle, no tea, coffee, milk, or cups). I had to spend hours going back and forth with IHG customer service and the hotel reception just to get a decent room for the second night. The second day was better, but still far from a true 4-star experience. Some staff were friendly and helpful, but others were rude, especially the guy at the bar when I asked for milk to make tea (since nothing was provided in the room). It’s unreasonable to expect guests to bring their own tea and milk in a supposed 4-star hotel. The rooms look newly refurbished, but amenities are minimal, and my first room didn’t even function properly. The one good thing was the breakfast — it was actually quite good. Overall, disappointing and definitely not worth the 4-star label.

Garner Hotel Rome or Smooth Hotel same name Absolutely Horrible – Not a 4-Star Hotel, It’s a Scam! This was an awful experience from start to finish. This place falsely advertises itself as a 4-star hotel — don’t be fooled! It’s more like a run-down budget motel. The toilet seat in my room was broken, and despite notifying reception multiple times, nothing was done about it. The shower overflowed and flooded the bathroom floor. There were disgusting marks all over the walls, which made the room feel dirty and neglected. The fridge in the room was also broken, completely useless. The hotel claims the rooms are soundproof — that’s a joke. I was in room 301 and could hear the elevator every single time it moved, day and night. It also claims to be a keyless hotel, but guess what? My key didn’t work, so they handed me an old-fashioned metal key. So much for modern amenities. This hotel is a total scam. Nothing like what’s advertised. Save your money and stay far away!
